Supporter Promise

As people, we are passionate about enabling all ages to grow in faith, we want to demonstrate integrity and honour God in all that we do at BRF Ministries. We have committed to our own Supporter Promise as a basis for striving to deliver the highest standards of service to all our supporters.

We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and adhere to the standards of the Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice. We have reflected the commitments of the Fundraising Regulator’s Fundraising Promise in our own Supporter Promise.

Supporters are at the heart of what we do

Our work is only possible because of the support of those who share our mission.

Strong, enduring relationships have always been a cornerstone of who we are and what we do. We will never take your support for granted, whether you are a visitor to our websites, a subscriber to our publications, a purchaser of our resources, a financial supporter, a volunteer or participant in one of our ministries, programmes or events, or a prayer supporter.

Many of our relationships are longstanding over a number of years.

We will be open and honest about how we are funded

BRF Ministries funding comes from a combination of the income we are able to generate through our charitable activities along with the generous support of individuals, churches and charitable trusts. Other than Gift Aid, we receive no funding from government or other statutory bodies, or from the National Lottery.

Sales of Bible reading notes, books and other resources generate a proportion of our overall funding needs. To finance the full cost of providing all that we offer – including Anna ChaplaincyMessy Church and Parenting for Faith – we rely on the generous support of individuals, churches and charitable trusts in the form of donations, grants and legacies, alongside the modest fees that we charge for training and events.

We will be prudent with our fundraising costs

We are committed to keeping our fundraising costs as low as we can.

In 2018–19 less than 8% of our expenditure was used for fundraising. We don’t run expensive advertising campaigns, but instead build interest in our mission through existing relationships with those buying our Bible reading notes, books and other resources and those attending our events and involved in our programmes, as well as those making financial gifts.

For nearly 100 years, BRF Ministries has been fruitful with this approach. To continue to keep our fundraising costs low, we aim to be relevant to all our supporters and to tailor any financial requests we make of you so that they are more likely to reflect your specific interests in our mission, and to be at an appropriate level.

To do that, we may make use of desk and online research as well as wealth screening to identify those supporters who may be both willing and able to make larger gifts to our work. The trusted agency doing this work will only use your data to help us with our fundraising. They cannot use your data for any other purposes. This is set out in our Privacy Policy.

We want you to have a positive experience with BRF

An integral part of our desire to be God-honouring in our work is to do all that we can to ensure that you always experience excellent service from us. We always want you to feel you are valued supporters as you stand alongside us in our work. That can start with a thank you for your subscription or your donation, but it goes beyond that. We want every interaction to be a positive one.

We never want you to be under pressure to do anything – whether that’s subscribing or making a gift. We want to ensure that supporters have the time to make up their minds about what they want to give, mirroring Paul’s advice in 2 Corinthians 9.

We recognise that some supporters may be in vulnerable circumstances for a whole variety of reasons ranging from mental health through to dementia or bereavement. Our Fundraising and Supporter Services teams are trained to spot signs of vulnerability and to respond appropriately.

We want to share the impact that our work has and communicate with you well

We want to communicate the impact of our work to those making purchases from us as well as those making financial gifts.

We want to communicate the success of individual programmes that you are involved with, as well as the overall successes of BRF Ministries, while ensuring that this is based on your preferences.

We will keep you informed about how your support is making a difference, and to this end we will provide you with high-quality our materials.

Your rights and privacy are taken seriously

Our work is only possible because of the support of those who share our mission. We never forget that we are stewards of your generosity and trust in us. We will respect your rights and privacy and have a comprehensive Privacy Policy in place.

If you tell us you don’t want us to contact you in a particular way, we will not do so.

You, your support and your opinions are valued

We value you, your support and your opinions. We want you to feel that you can get in touch with us.

We will always make it easy for you to contact us, and our Supporter Services team is on hand to answer your questions. Our aim is to deliver a warm, friendly and personal service in a timely and reliable way. We aim to make sure that all our staff know their stuff and, as far as possible, can give you the right answers first time.

We hope you’ll never need to complain, because we set high standards for ourselves. However, if you are unhappy with anything we’ve done, please contact us to tell us. We will listen to feedback and be responsive. Sometimes things go wrong, and you may want to make a formal complaint. If this happens, we will respond fully. Our complaints procedure will let you know who to contact if you feel that our response is unsatisfactory.
