Our latest appeals

The past year has included a huge amount of change for both BRF Ministries and other charities, as well as on an individual, national and worldwide level. There have been times of celebration and times when we must hold tight to a later part of the above psalm:

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
vv. 9–10

The Annual Appeal

For our annual appeal, Jules MacNaughton, the head of fundraising, focuses on not being anxious.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:67 NIV).

Knowing that we need to achieve our budget and raise £24,000 a week to fund our ministries, in this economic climate, it can be easy to become anxious. This is why we believe that these verses from Philippians are very appropriate for this year’s annual appeal. Many of us will have situations that make us feel anxious, but here we are reminded that we can take those concerns to God.

We are so thankful for the generous financial support that we receive and are grateful for every penny given to BRF Ministries. Without your help, we could not deliver our four vital ministries. We are asking you to consider supporting us again, or for the first time, this year.

We at BRF Ministries are impacted by the effects of the cost-of-living crisis, just as many of us, as individuals and churches, are. We really need your support please, every donation of any size will truly help us.

Thank you from all of us at BRF Ministries.

Seasonal and Everyday Cards

BRF Ministries offers a range of seasonal and everyday cards that all help to fund our work. They feature designs for every occasion from Easter to Christmas, birthdays to Valentines, to ‘just thinking of you.’

In the last year, BRF Ministries has sold £22,745 of cards, plus £8,000 in donations alongside them.

Debbie Ducille’s Sponsored Walk

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Anna Chaplaincy joining BRF Ministries, in September 2024 Ministry Lead Debbie Ducille embarked on a sponsored walk from the birthplace of Anna Chaplaincy in Alton, Hampshire, to the home of BRF Ministries in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, a distance of approximately 60 miles.

This was a fantastic event and celebration, and the total raised from the sponsored walk and anniversary donations was £8,682.

January 2024 appeal

We would like to take a moment to look back and to say thank you for your generosity and support over 2023. Our work simply would not be possible without your prayers and your generosity.

Like many charities, 2023 was a challenging year for us financially. It’s an increasing challenge to secure the income that we need to be able to fund our work in the current economic climate. We have had to reduce costs and review our operations. This resulted in the late autumn with us having to make the heart-breaking decision to reduce our staff team. All of this is to ensure that the BRF Ministries that so many people know and love can continue, albeit working with reduced capacity, to make the vital difference that they do – both now and into the future.

This is why we need your support and prayers now more than ever. If you are able to make a donation to help support our ministries, we would be immensely grateful.

In the latest issue of BRF Ministries News you’ll find stories of the impact of Anna Chaplaincy, Living Faith, Messy Church and Parenting for Faith. We hope you will be inspired and encouraged by them. You’ll also find here this year’s selection of Easter, Christmas and everyday cards. We are pleased to have been able to hold the price (for the past four years) at £2.95 per pack of cards.

Thank you once again for your generous support and your prayers.

A note from our Head of Fundraising

One of the ways I see God as a ‘stronghold in times of trouble’ is through our Bible reading notes, which every day include something to help and to inspire. It is wonderful to have been able to give out free copies of Bible reading notes alongside our other centenary book giveaways.

As we enter our ‘centenary plus two’ year, I marvel at the generosity and support that we receive. It was amazing to read all the encouraging feedback in relation to the book giveaways over the Christmas period – an undertaking that was made possible by people like you, through virtual gifts, the Christmas message and other kind donations.

Would you consider supporting us again in our 2024 appeals? We greatly value your financial support and prayers. Your donations help us to deliver our mission of helping people of all ages to grow in faith. Despite the ever-changing world, our ministry teams continue to successfully deliver their exceptional work.

We are extremely grateful for every penny that is given, every book, greetings card or rose ordered, every course or event attended, every Bible reading notes subscriber and every person who has signed up to become a Friend of BRF Ministries by making a regular monthly donation. I want to say a particular thank you to everyone who has remembered BRF Ministries in their will or donated in memory of a loved one. We appreciate all your prayers and messages of support and encouragement.

I fully appreciate that for many of us, these are financially difficult times. We as a charity are also experiencing the knock-on effects of the cost-of-living crisis. Every donation of any size will help us to make a huge difference and does indeed make us ‘be glad and rejoice’.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Julie MacNaughton
Head of Fundraising

I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
