Hitting the road for Who Let The Dads Out?

On Sunday 1 October 2017, Calum Graham ran the 10k at the Great Scottish Run to raise money for Who Let The Dads Out?

This is his story.

How did you get into running?

'I began running about three years ago in a bid to keep up with my wife, who had started running previous to this.

'As I needed some kind of motivation, I began using a 0 to 5k app on my phone. I achieved 5k and decided to try to go a bit further and found that I could make 10k with just a little bit more effort. This came a little too late for a local Fathers Day 10k run, so I set my sights on the Great Scottish Run 10k.

'I decided that, if I was going to run in this event, I should spread the word about Who Let The Dads Out? I saw this as part of my role as Regional Ambassador for West and Central Scotland.

Why are you running for Who Let The Dads Out?

Who Let The Dads Out?

'Who Let the Dads Out? is important to me as I value the support I have had from Mark and Tony since becoming involved with the group about 8 years ago.

'I had already established a Dads group at church and saw an article about Who Let The Dads Out? in Christianity magazine. I then spoke to Dirk Uitterdijk and became involved with the group.

'Since becoming involved with the group I have been able to use it as a point of contact for the dads in the church and as an outreach to dads in the community.

'I very much believe that God wants to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.'
