Isaiah
A Bible commentary for every day
Jo Bailey Wells
Isaiah means different things to different people. Cited in the New Testament more than any other Old Testament book, it encapsulates prophecies of judgement, restoration, deliverance, comfort, Messianic themes, and also narrative episodes. It speaks to its own historical context and foretells future circumstances. First and foremost, though, it is a testimony to God's enduring faithfulness to his wayward people. Isaiah's powerful combination of warning and hope is as relevant today as it was two-and-a-half millennia ago.
